life

"We get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. Perhaps not even that. How many times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless." - Paul Bowles (American Author)

Attitude

Never complain. Your words have power and the language you use determine the way you perceive reality. Be known as a positive, strong, energetic and enthusiastic person. Someone who complains is cynical and always looks for the negative in everything will scare people away and rarely succeed at anything. From a purely psychological viewpoint, things are always created twice: once in the mind and then in reality. Focus on the positive. Be so mentally tough that nothing takes you off your planned course to success. Visualize and firmly believe in what you want. It will most certainly come true.

what makes you come alive?

Don't worry about what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and do that. Because what the world needs are people who have come alive. ~ Howard Thurman It has long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things. ~ Elinor Smith

no more plastic bags

I have stopped getting any plastic bags from grocery stores. I carry my own bags. It sometimes creates confusion at the checkout where I break their preprogrammed standard checkout flow. But in cases like that I just volunteer to bag the stuff myself. It is not that inconvenient, and if I forget to carry one with me, then I just get a paper bag that I then reuse as much as I can and ultimately recycle it. I really like this quote by Helen Keller: I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.
