The best things in life are free

Tomorrow morning, before the sun is up too high, find a patch of grass that is drenched in dew. Take off your shoes. Walk barefoot on the wet grass for a few minutes. Put your shoes back on - don't wipe your feet. Close your eyes and savor the feeling of rejuvenation. Log on to your blogger and tell me how you felt. I tried it this morning and I cannot tell you how good it felt - you will have to try for yourself.

we are composting!!!!

My dear husband spent a great part of father's day sunday trying to 'install' the compost bin. Of course, we could have just dumped it in any old corner, but he believes in doing things right. He leveled the ground and made a base for it. Once he installed the bin on top, he put a layer of dried leaves from corners of our backyard , and voila... we are composting. Yesterday, when my dad came over he had a bag in his hand. They usually bring me something or other to eat and I always look forward to that. Imagine my surprise when I opened the bag and found his kitchen scraps in it, egg shells and all :) We got the compost bin for free from the Bureau of Environmental Services. I am really excited about harvesting the rich compost next year. Other than that, I harvested my first crop from my kitchen garden. Don't they look adorable? I pan fried the eggplant and the pepper right away with some olive oil and lemon pepper. It tasted sooooo good. I kept repeating to my husba...

compost pile

I am thinking of getting a compost bin and start composting all kitchen scraps. I have been reading up on it, but would like to hear from any of you who have been doing it. thanks,
